London Fashion Week SS14

London Fashion Week did not fail to disappoint. Petals, pink and pleats sums up the week perfectly. 

With graphic florals, pleated skirts and a variety of pink shades being use, there was a lot to focus on! There were feathers, iridescent fabrics, trains and spaghetti straps all evident throughout the collections. As well as pinks, yellows and blues and monochrome colours were also key.

I love clash of baby pink against bright red at Antonio Berardi. I also love the trains of flowing fabric as well as the continuation of the sheer and solid trend from SS13.

      

At David Koma, I loved how structure and pleats were highlighted using lines. The use of monochrome colours, with a splash of blue creates an eye catching collection.

  

Peter Pilotto has managed to journey from pastel greens to contrasting oranges, blues and pinks. I love how he's created this adventure through his pieces, keeping the shapes simple and structured and letting the patterns and colours do the talking. It appears to be a lovely coincidence that 2 of my favourite pieces from this collection were modeled by the beautiful Cara Delevingne.

New York Fashion Week SS14

Having been away for most of New York Fashion Week, it has taken me a while to catch up, however I am finally there!

NYFW was as brilliant as ever.

A clash of sophisticated monochrome mixed with the femininity that pastel shades bring across the collections, creating a new contrast alongside the key metallics tones and crisp white clashes. Structure in the form of boxy silhouettes, pleated skirts and cutout sides were all evident throughout whilst the sheer and solid trend from SS13, still remains in the '14 collections, which I am more than happy about!

There were pops of animal prints: leopard, snake, giraffe and zebra, as well as twists on scarf and tribal prints. Spots, checks and stripes were used to highlight the shape of the garments, whether they be colour-blocked or on sheer fabrics whilst tassels were used a lot - perhaps too much in some cases.

AW13 brought a 20s inspired aspect to the collections, and this was carried on through the SS13 lines. The evening dresses were covered in lace and sparkle giving them a nightwear feel to them. This romantic tone was very much in keeping with the soft, pastel colours used.

I have a highlighted love for the bomber jacket and New York did not disappoint me. Ranging from colourful, to simple, to sheer - I loved them all! What makes the below even more fabulous is the fact that they are part of co-ordinated sets - a big trend for AW/SS and one which I cannot get enough of!
